SMART SHELTER SPACE В DNIPRO NATIONAL UNIVERCITY

Project within the Program for Creating Multifunctional Spaces in Shelters of Higher Education Institutions in Ukraine, initiated by CLUST.

CLUST SPACE Dnipro is an innovative smart shelter designed for the students of Oles Honchar Dnipro National University. Opened in February 2025, this space combines the functions of a shelter and a coworking area, providing a comfortable environment for study and relaxation, even during air raid alerts.

The project was initiated by entrepreneur and investor Ruslan Tymofieiev, founder of the venture builder CLUST. He emphasizes the importance of supporting security initiatives in education, noting that creating such conditions for youth is an investment in the sustainable development of the country.

CLUST SPACE Dnipro spans 550 m² and can accommodate up to 350 individuals. The space is equipped with modern ventilation, soundproofing, furniture, and equipment that meet the State Emergency Service’s shelter requirements. Students have access to a large open area, zones for sports, computer games, and relaxation, rooms for meetings and practical sessions, capsules for video calls, individual workspaces, a cafeteria, restrooms, and showers. 

This project is part of CLUST’s initiative to create smart shelters in higher education institutions across Ukraine, enabling students to continue their studies in safe conditions during wartime. The first smart shelter was opened at the Scientific and Technical Library of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute in Kyiv. 

For us, as architects, this mission is primarily important because of education. I have had projects in the Middle East, in countries that have been at war for a long time. I have seen firsthand adults who cannot read or write because they did not have the opportunity to study. As a father, citizen, and architect, I see my mission as creating safe conditions for learning. Therefore, projects like this are extremely important to us.
