PUBLIC GARDEN

Location: Kiev, Ukraine
Architects: Pavlо Peker, Bohdan Filonov, Oleg Shaynoga
Total area: 0.08 ha
Status: fundraising for implementation

Borisa Grinchenka Street is located in the very center of Kyiv, however sidewalk has been turned into a car parking, most of the buildings do not have active ground floors. The only green area is fenced off and consists of several trees sticking out of grassless soil on, and the as a result the pedestrian experience is poor.

We proposed making this square into a meeting place for people, making the street more attractive. The First thing needed is to remove the fence and expand the pedestrian area. Instead of cracked earth, create illuminated paving, and set up benches. Plant shade-loving shrubs where they will not be trampled. Preserve all trees and shrubs by sprinkling them with filtering gravel. This will improve the air and the water access to the root system.
Thus, a new urban space with barrier-free access will appear.
